It’s less than 4 weeks until the Summer Season for 2014/15 starts.  The Program is now finalised, check it out here.  2014/2015 Program

Good Racing Fleets
There is a good chance we could have some good regular fleets.
The core of our Optimist Racing fleet will be back.
We are looking like having at least 4 regular racing Starlings.

We may see some Sunbursts this year.
Our Zephyr fleet has grown to 6 regulars.
The Lasers should have 5 to 6 regular racers with up to 10 potentially possible plus even more through the season as some or the Opti Mums and Dads get boats and develop their racing skills.
The Finn fleet is looking as healthy as ever.

Starter(s)

We are in urgent need of a “Starter” or it could be a shared job “Starters”. In order to run handicap races we need someone to write down the start times of each race, then the finish times of each boat. It would only be on Champs days, that way we can have our Points Series running in conjunction.

Most commonly you will need to be on the front deck or up in the tower for the start and finish of races. This is a really good thing for parents or supporters of other sailors to do to get more involved with the running of the club. If you are interested, please just reply to this email or give Geoff a call ph02195277.

Officer of the Day

For many years we shared the duties of running the club over a weekend around amongst club members. The duties include opening the club, setting the courses (or asking a senior sailor to help set the courses), running the briefing at the start of the race day, checking there is someone to man the rescue boat, locking up or checking there is someone to lock up, giving the club a clean at the end of the weekend.

Please look at the sailing dates and reply with the time you would like to be OOD. We’ll confirm and post your name on the Calendar. First in get’s the first choice of days.

After many years of being our Patron, Olive Watson retired from the position this year, asking not to be re-elected.  Olive and her past husband Fred made a significant contribution to our club over many years.
