Hi All,
Here is the latest news from Waiuku Yacht Club;
This weekend we have our annual sail to Clarks Beach scheduled for our Junior sailors, staying there overnight Saturday and returning on Sunday. The forecast for this weekend wasn’t looking great yesterday but this now seems to be moderating, we’ll provide an update on the Clarks Beach trip on Friday.
This Sunday 16th we also have club racing for Senior Classes, gates will be open by 12pm and the first start will be at 1pm. Following sailing on Sunday we are holding our annual prizegiving for the 2024 calendar year. Prizegiving is expected to start at 4pm, however we will re-confirm this time on friday, dependent on any changes to the Clarks beach trip due to weather. Prizegiving will include a BBQ with meat and salad supplied by the club.
We have a lot of sailing coming up with Waiuku hosting the Finn North Islands and National Championships for five days from Friday 28th February to Tuesday 4th March, followed by a Hartley 16 travellers regatta on 15th & 16th March. On Saturday 29th March we are hosting the Manukau Shield regatta where the five yacht clubs on the Manukau harbour will compete at Waiuku for this prized trophy. We need volunteers for all of these days, in particular we need drivers and crew for support boats laying marks and being available to assist with any rescues if required. If you’re able to help on any of these dates please let me know.
Finally, subscriptions are now due for the 2025 calendar year. Please follow the instructions on the Membership page at www.wyc.org.nz.
See you at the club this weekend.
Regards,
Mark Perrow
